Authenticity

Authenticity

A Poem by Erudite
"

If loving yourself is a one way ticket to society's fire, so be it.

"
And so they meander wearing poker faces.
They grew old only to step three paces
Back down inside themselves,
Either to hide their hearts or kill them altogether.

Does the light not reach you?
Has the beauty of goodness
No effect on your soul?
How long will you remain beneath?

Take each of your masks,
Your cloaks, and your daggers,
And throw them all into the fire.
For if society rejects you,

At least it won't be a facade they voted against.
