The Coward's Fight

The Coward's Fight

A Poem by Erudite
"

Hostility is the quickest way to getting respect. Correct?

"
   Please,
do come match wits with a genius.
     Surely you've seen this
  outcome precipitating forth
through the chaos of life's uncertainties.

    And so,
            the vitriol you throw
      can be surmised as follows:

'If I can make you hurt
     with this small spurt
     of hateful words
                      then I can elevate myself.

    Your pain gives me power,
in the form of a hit to
     my dopaminergic reward system.

      And so,
          instead of climbing these hierarchies
      through sheer competence,

I will instead push you further to the floor.

     For I crave more.
           It's never enough.
Grant me an illusory position I deem fit to be
     more than enough to satisfy
my every want and need.
