SurrenderA Poem by EruditeWrote this impromptu, in like 5 minutes, as a challenge
I shine
Like a forest fire at night. There are murderers who'd like to extinguish me There are demons who'd like to redirect me I am myself. Like a child at play. There are soulless creatures who wish I'd live vicariously There are the faceless, who wish I'd conform to them. I turn away from evil. I fight against my temptations. Though I lust, hate, envy, and desire it all. Minute to minute I choose to love instead. With the great beast looming above us, You think your pride is your strength. But it is your worst enemy. Let it go come be, along with me Gentle, loving, at peace. Give yourself to a life of unconditional surrender. It may feel like losing, but It's truly the most efficient means of fighting back.
