Earth Shrugs

Earth Shrugs

A Poem by Alice

The earth spins, within and without.

It moves, breathes, organic.

When it does shrug,

And give a jolt to the surface,

(that we so greedily purchase,

and claim as our own),

we all go up in arms.

Is it that we don’t understand-

Can’t comprehend-

That our earth moves?

Or is it fear?

Realization that our foundations are in vain,

For there is no- nor was there ever- stability.

In any part of life.

That is the joke we played on ourselves-

Settling down the way we do.

We grow our roots,

And expect the earth will let us stay still.

But there is nothing still,

Nothing immobile,

Nothing calm.

No where in the world is there peace.

The only peace you will find,

Is the peace of mind you get,

When you realize-

Nothing ever is forever,

Ever.
