Six Feet From The Edge

Six Feet From The Edge

A Poem by S. A. Venus
"

an acrostic from a song title

"

Shadows cast a veil over my soul
I walk the tightrope over the chasm of insanity
Xenophobic feelings rise and close me in

Fearful of further rejection
Every acquaintance I make seems to go awry
Even those with genuine concerns eventually
Turn and say their goodbyes

Forgiveness a word I no longer understand
Rebound is not the place where I want to live
Openly I weep as a victim of love once again
Momentos from our brighter days are haunting

Trying hard to move forward from here, but you
Hold the key to my bleeding heart still
Emotions constantly twisting in my mind

Echoes of the love we had invade the
Deepest crevices of my memories
Gradually I may come to find love and trust again, but my
Eyelids are swollen from all the tears I've cried for you

I have a tendency to write mostly "free verse", I have written some lyrics and they will appear on the site gradually. I don't like being defined by style anyway, I just try to convey a message or at .. more..
