Poets Lament (Remembrance Day)

Poets Lament (Remembrance Day)

A Poem by S. A. Venus
"

a tribute to the soldiers that never made it home, particularly the ANZACS

"

72 hours until daybreak
And the winds of change
Knock upon my door
I cannot stand this silence
Nor the ghost of time
Wielding his sword

A lesser man would not prevail
Pride the ultimate sacrifice
Inner strength the key
To salvation of the soul

As the moonlight is reflected
Through the broken mirror on the floor
I see a man of courage
Who will struggle on despite the pain
No questions, no expectations
For anything in return

Echoing across the valley
I hear the church bells sounding out
A soldiers' final call
Heaven's sons shed a tear
As we promise to remember
The brave and fallen
Lest we forget.

Bravery so well expressed here:

"As the moonlight is reflected
Through the broken mirror on the floor
I see a man of courage
Who will struggle on despite the pain
No questions, no expectations
For anything in return"

I have a tendency to write mostly "free verse", I have written some lyrics and they will appear on the site gradually. I don't like being defined by style anyway, I just try to convey a message or at .. more..
