A Poem by Erica Ross

Sometimes I get so high
I can't think
We drink so much -
Tongue so numb
We can't speak.
I believe, you believe
We believe too,
But I'm too blind
You're too blind
We're destined for doom.
So much smoke
The dust clouds my eyes
Life feels like a joke
But these jokes make us cry.
Who would've known
Being an adult would be this way
We spent all this time growing
Just to feel the same
But a little worse
No more bottles
Instead, bottles of rose.
We get so drunk
Then we can't speak.
We get so high
Til we can't think.
See a pretty thing
That's the only love we know
Ain't no longevity
A temporary fix, and u can go.
