Every TimeA Poem by Erica RossRaw vent.
Every time I think I have it right, life proves me wrong
Every time I move one step forward, life puts me back where I belong Every time I think I trump the devil, he comes along and trumps me Every time I let go of love, love turns around and lets go of me Every time I think I'm right, I end up proving myself wrong Every time I think I'm strong, I end up feeling weak from being alone Every time I try to hide, life shows my true side and every time I try to be tough, it's only a facade Every time I draw close, disappointment draws near And when I let go of my pride, all I get back is fear Every time I get over something, it just comes back around And every time I'm ready, love never fails to let me down Every time I protect myself, people tear my walls down and every time I open up, they remind me why I never let them down Every time I am realistic, they assume that I don't care and every time, I play the fool Why do I treat me so unfair?
