Don't Look Back

Don't Look Back

A Poem by Erica Ross

The urge is so real
It is the only thing that I feel
To give in to the sin
Is the motive that rules all men

I watch as my soul attaches to things
The sex, the money, the liquor, the dream
And it's sad because no one will ever know
That this is the way I feel

I keep my problems bottled
I blow my worries in the smoke
I can taste the pain
I watch my tears as they float

I can't go back
No, I won't go back there
But it's the old disguised as the new
And that's the thing that I fear

Just let this time be different
Don't wanna go down that road again
Just want you to be there for me
Can you be that friend?

I don't want to hurt
But time just can't wait
They come and they go
Let me go before it's too late
