Off the Record: My Philosophy on Love

It's not the end of the world

You didn't lose your life

You just lost your girl

Maybe she was your world

But you don't need a relationship to validate that girl

Everything has its end

So why are we all so afraid to be somebody's friend?

Love is universal

It's not just about hugging and kissing

It's about opening up to one another

Having fun; having someone there to listen

I wish more people would grasp this concept

And young women stop getting so upset

Because you want real love and a relationship

But all that you are getting is sex

I say, forget a "relationship"

Let us remember the love

For it is the greatest thing given to us

Given from the man up above.

I really like the concept that love is universal, that every religion on earth speaks of love as the highest law. I think spending too much time on the "relationship" detracts from the love and you convey this so well in your poem. Wonderful job, Erica.

Love is a many splendid thing but sex is a mighty fine substitute but hey, what do I know, I'm a walking pillar of testosterone. The thing with breakups is the breakupee is being fired from the breakuper's life and that really blows. It's also part of life and like most pain in our lives we can't get around it without isolating ourselves from the world. Like the wise man Victor Frankl said "Life stinks, but it's all we got so have some laughs and get laid" (I'm paraphrasing) Anyway, happy days love.
