Concerns I Don't Speak of

Concerns I Don't Speak of

A Chapter by Erica Ross

Can we leave the past in the past
Can you leave the last where it's at
Can we forget about what we did
Can we think about what's ahead
Can we disregard the distractions
Can we stay focused instead
Let's remember the good times
But keep making them while we're at it
Be selfish for me
Only give me your time
But don't do too much
Cause I still need my peace of mind
Don't scold me
Don't be too brash
Don't be a pushover
But don't make me too mad
And I know I haven't been perfect
But is this too much to ask?

Very well penned. This is what I call "sweeping issues under the rug". Unfortunately the only thing that happens is resentment on one side or the other will build up and an explosion will result.. or one will just be so frustrated that he/she leaves. It may be easier to just look the other way, but sometimes getting all the issues out can be better. You've done a great job of relating all the issues you don't wish to discuss and sweep them away.
