On The Outside Looking InA Poem by Erica Ross
Look at it
Beautiful and gracious as it can be Smiles and laughter flow from it like great waves of the sea Human creatures swoon over this figure as if it's sent from above No one really knows the truth But they see its physical appearance, and for that, they love But dig a little deeper Lets study this case Do you know the heart of it? Or does it just seem this way No, you don't know the true being You don't know its true purpose You don't know its daily struggle But from the outside it's perfect You don't see the tears No, you don't see the hurt You believe it's all fine Yet, you don't know its worth You say that it is all good You say that it is all fine But you have it misunderstood You have no clue in mind See you are just an outsider Getting a glance of the inside But do you dare to go further? Are you brave enough to take that ride So don't fix your lips so quick This here is far from perfect You are just a guest on a list You can't give facts unless you're permanent So no, you don't know what it's like You don't know how it feels All you see is the exterior But can you dig deeper for the real?
