I'd Still Choose You

I'd Still Choose You

A Poem by Erica Ross

I don't know how it feels to be you, but I can imagine
I could bet that most times you are happy, but sometimes your life wreaks havoc
And I bet you don't know how much I love you
But I look up to God and hope that you at least have a clue
All I ever wanted to do was to take your pain away
To give you genuine love and to make you smile each day
But like most of us, we push the good ones away
We chase the ones who we are uncertain about
Vulnerably giving them the benefit of the doubt
But you know what, that is okay
My love, feel free to chase whomever that you seek
Just don't come around trying to now seek me
Oh my, how those words hurt to say
Because every inch of my soul would illuminate on that day
But I know that there can not be an us
If it were to be a you and I, then it would have happened in our previous life
If you shall ever find true love again
I must say that for me, there would be a bittersweet feeling
But whatever happens, I will never forget about you..
My friend
And to be perfectly honest, if we could do this all again..
I'd still choose you

This poem brought tears to my eyes, boy do I know how it feels to have that sort of love for someone.
