A Ring

A Ring

A Poem by Erica Ross

What does a ring signify?
An everlasting love, infatuation in one's eyes
When you shall place a ring upon a young lady's finger
What does this mean to her?
Does it strike a nerve in her mind?
Like she has succeeded the ultimate challenge, someone is now mine
And how do you, the giver feel, as she is pleased with your gift
To hug you as she cries with joy, and rewards you with a kiss
But what do you do when she just looks?
Slips on the ring, but she appears not to be shook
She goes on about her day and simply says.."thanks babe"
And you young lad has a puzzled look
The reaction you expected didn't happen the way you thought, and that took you for a loop
You'll remember this feeling and become scorned
To put your all into a woman, you won't do it anymore..
