Red Light

Red Light

A Poem by Erica Ross

I don't know why, and this may seem awkward
But I feel most comfortable at a red light
It's soothing to know that I can stop..
To see what is ahead of me, to know that I can take a break
And when the light is green, I mean don't get me wrong, it's an exciting feeling
To go full speed ahead and be beyond the others
But to know that I can crash at any time, cause Lord knows that when I am on the go, I fly
So the next time you drive, when you stop, just think
That if you were to keep going, you could be gone in a blink
So therefore in life, while you're in the fast lane
Remember these words and keep them in the back of your brain

I like the parallel to life in this poem, it's light, airy, and fun. Thanks for the share.
