![]() Fly Like the BirdsA Poem by Erin Thomas![]() A poem from class about breaking up.![]() Once upon a time, there lived a woman and a man. They lived inside a palace in the middle of the land. The man assumed everything was happy go lucky But the view from his maiden was all quite too fuzzy. She did as he said when they got into bed And in the morning she baked him her famous French bread. Dining through their days, she never considered living a magical life unhindered. No orders to take, nor sickness to fake Maybe even a mend to her traumatic heartache. Dreaming, she lay, teeming with hope, as she flew like a bird up a high, rigid slope. No chance in a life, predictable as hers, That she could ever leave her man and fly like the birds. Defying reality, she let all go loose, “No more!” she yelled. “I won’t take this abuse!” “Get out!” shrieked the woman, knowing the words. “I need to be free and fly like the birds.” © 2012 Erin ThomasAuthor's Note
