Words

A Poem by DearWorld

Words floating off the top of my head,

I find it rather beautiful.

A rainbow of colors,

Waves of emotion,

Swirling through the air.

How wonderful is that?

That I can say something here,

Then you can hear me there.

Sounds trotting through the air

From my mouth,

To your ear.

Isn't that wonderful?

I can say what's hidden in my brain

So that you can know it too.

Delivered with just the right diction

And to each a unique voice.

Everyone says the same word differently.

So if I were to come up behind you

And yell "Happy birthday!"

You'd know immediately ,

That it was me.

Isn't that wonderful?

Words are a miracle unto themselves,

But they are not meant to be held captive,

Swirling 'round your mind,

Floating round your head,

Fighting to get out.

Open your mouth,

Pick up your pen,

Set your words free!
