A Mother's TearsA Poem by Erin LeeA Mother's Tears by Erin Lee It's in the tears that wet the page that you can feel it; she'd do anything to take your pain and put it into her as she did the day of your birth "I wish it could be another way." A mother's love comes in a thousand ways; mostly not in words. She'll protect you from the evil one who'd take your heart away. (And take you back when he does). It's in the thoughts at 2 a.m., when all the world is sleep; her ponderings and ruffled sheets finding the perfect thing to say "I'll take your pain away." We never think to tell her what she does for us; expecting it to come with ease; Mother Nature's curse. "She has to love me, she's my mom." and then she'll say "I wouldn't have it any other way." But what we fail to realize is that a mother's love comes with a hefty charge. Sweat and certain sacrifice; lost sleep, lost loves, daydreams gone - putting hers into ours. © 2011 Erin Lee |
