My WishA Poem by Erin LeeHow freeing to finally be able to find the words to write about it!My Wish By Erin L George
We never did take that canoe ride The one where you promised to stop paddling In the middle of the lake And kiss me Under the moon
Where Cinderella would turn green On site of our embrace - The kind where you can’t tell Where she begins And he ends
And then there is the kissing ground Where we cuddled up in night Beneath trees that offered promise Limbs bowed
You told me we’d run away - Prince Charming always finds a way And we’d watch him grow Together as a family Complete
Snow White had the seven dwarfs For Thanksgiving feasts Drunk on dopey sentiment Lazy summer days
And then there was our trip out west Where I’d learn to ski And you’d keep the fire strong While I dozed off in sleep - Wind bleached
We never did take that walk The one down the aisle Where I’d get beach sand in my toes And wear daisies In my curls
Where Sleeping Beauty would sit up straight To watch us dance our song The kind you can’t tell Where she begins And he ends
And then there is the final ground Where we’d rest in perfect bliss Knowing of the life we’d had Together as a family Complete
Goldilocks had the three bears And the Genie had three wishes - But I only have one left of these:
That you hadn’t told me fairy tales That I hadn’t believed. © 2010 Erin Lee |
