The Stars Tonight

The Stars Tonight

A Poem by Erin Lee

The Stars Tonight

I’m going out to look at the stars tonight

(Because he told me there was no moon

when he was taking out the garbage).

I barely have the energy to put my sweatshirt on

(Because depression is eating sucking me

into its black hole).

But I know, looking at the stars tonight,

I’ll suck on their energies and find strength

to twirl again in daisy fields

(Come new day and new moons,

as I always do).

I’ll lay in my hammock and swing,

searching for the moon. Wondering:

Where does it go to hideaway?

Does it ever want to curl up,

fade away?

I’m going out to look at the stars tonight

(Because I don’t know what else to do).
