Flimsy Silence

Flimsy Silence

A Poem by Erin Lee

Flimsy Silence

She was desirous of silence -

to sit without guilt

or the panic that ate

at the core

of her stomach.

Flimsy moments arrived

between bus stations

when the train stopped

to let just one more on

(someone had to stand).

Patient was a must -

a treat to enshrine

where flimsy excuses

fell short

at stop signs.

She craved permission

from the gods

and herself -

to dream again, (loud this time)

on dandelions

and copper pennies.
