Today

Today

A Poem by Erin Lee
"

Sometimes, you just have to put yesterday behind you.

"

Today

Today is a new day

and I shall swing from the tire swing

in sunlight just outgoing enough

to say hello

in early Spring.

I will ride into the sky

on hopeless whimsy

like a pup whose never been smacked

for stealing the morning paper.

Spinning on Goodyear

til I'm so dizzy my dreams double

and there's even a chance

of catching them.

Today is a new day

and I shall put on my gloves

pulling dead leaves from the garden

that never grew

becasue, back then,

the sun was too shy.

I will toss them in the air

and let them fall on my face

joining them in a dance

with no care.

I will spring free the pansies

who managed survive

after Winter's cold slap

and my own ignorance.

Today is a new day

and I'll pack my bags

careful to wrap the China

in bubbles trapped

in plastic.

The carefree approach is very motivating for it makes me feel like doing something so out of the ordinary. There's something elegant about this poem's casualness.

Keep Writing. ^___^
