This Morning

This Morning

A Poem by Erin Lee

This Morning

by Erin L George

I memorized you

sleeping with the blankets

balled in your first

fighting daylight's

inevitable reality.

I close my eyes

and see the rise

of your chest

your breath dancing

on my skin.

Did you know

you twitch your nose

in your sleep?

I watched you

dream of something

that made your lips

turn up a bit

so sweet.

I wonder now

what it could have been

that tickled your mind

and made you smile

in sleep.

Do you realize

you reach for me

in your sleep?

Oh my, Oh my. Such lingering, heartfelt beauty in your words. I was hooked to each line and released with a sigh. Wonderful writing!
