Happy Ending Bullshit

by Erin L George

Once upon a time

there was a princess, true

who searched the kingdom

far and wide - searched it

through and through.

She kissed her share of frogs

and slept upon the peas

she swept and cleaned

high and low - scoured it

to please.

Finally that day came

where princess sighed relief!

She'd finally met her prince:

Forever they would be -

her absolute belief!

She kissed his every plea

and slept with he in dreams.

She smiled ear to ear,

giggling with glee!

She waited for his word,

listened carefully -

he promised her the world,

said they were meant to be.

He told her that he'd keep his word:

They'd live as one -

that day would come -

he swore he would not fail.

But happy endings (apparently)

make for boring tale

and sometimes fairy's don't exist,

meant only as a veil,

to sadness tucked behind the page.

Happy Endings, pixie dust ?

bullshit, ...too-da-loo!

Few fairy tales in this world. I like the story and the ending was real. A outstanding poem. Thank you.

interesting...i have to say i did like it, but i see your point and your emotions show. There is a sense of fed up hopelessness and that makes this poem real. Good write,
