The Neighbors

The Neighbors

A Poem by Erin Lee

The Neighbors

by Erin L George

What would the neighbors think

if they knew the tales of your calluses

or tracks of your wrinkles

if you stripped your windows

and allowed them a peek

into your coarse cave of veracity?

I'd wager they'd blush rose

as if at first kiss

an explosion of culpability

to know the arches

tucked deep

in your smelly ripe sneakers

hiding magazines under  your bed

puckered beneath sheets

and lotion.

A blush surely deeper

if you replaced blinds

with a large

gold twine mirror

to detonate the boom

of curiosity and contempt

right back in their faces.

A outstanding poem. I like how you twisted the poem around at the end. The description and story kept my attention to your last word. You are a very good writer.
