The Beginning.

The Beginning.

A Chapter by Viola

Violet stepped out of the bookshop, on to the empty sidewalk. She closed her eyes to rest them for a moment. The wind blew lightly and caressed her face. She opened her eyes and looked around for a moment. It was so peaceful here; the town had a small population, a beautiful country side, and wonderful bookshops. It was absolutely perfect. Violet started down the sidewalk, and shortly after she noticed that someone was following her. She sped up, but not enough to raise any suspicion. Her apartment wasn't that far from here, and so she wasn't too worried. She reached the building and sped inside. After closing the door she peaked out the window, and saw that the man had continued walking. "How ridiculous. Why would he follow me," she joked to herself. She grabbed her things and walked upstairs to her place. She opened the door and dropped everything. Someone had been in here; everything had been dumped on the floor or turned upside down. Right as she took her first step into the apartment, she was grabbed from behind. After that everything went dark.

After what seemed to be years, Violet awoke. It was very dark and humid, but none of that seemed to matter. All she knew was that she had to find out where and why she was here. She tried to move, but found that her body wouldn't budge. Moments later a light flickered on and a man walked up to her. He said, "Sorry, but you won't be able to move for awile. The sedative will take awile to wear off." How dare he, she thought. How could he talk to her so casually? He smiled and said, "We didn't want to bring you here this way, but we figured if we just came out with the truth then you would never come." Now she was confused. He studied her face and then said, "My name is Jack, but everyone calls me Jazz. Don't ask, because I honestly have no idea where they got it from. Let me explain. We are a secret underground organization of sorts. There are people out there that are hunting our kind. They want to experimennt and obtain the abilities we have. I'm not talking cute little lab tests either; no sick experiments that could and would kill us. We just got to you before they did, because believe me they were hot on your trail Violet." Violet could feel the shocked expression on her face. Our kind? What the hell was he talking about, she asked herself. Finally she asked, "Our kind? What do you mean by that?" The man actually looked shocked. He replied, "You mean you haven't noticed the strange things happening to you?" Violet nodded. He sighed and then sat down and said, "We may be here awhile."
