that friend

that friend

A Poem by InsidiousRain

that friend
the one who tortured you when you were young.
you ran into the arms of your mother.
begging for comfort.
she said to ignore her.
but she couldn't ignore you as tears streaked down your face
over the scrape
caused by an angry stick.
the one
who you made a truce with.
it was forced.
but it was there.
the one
who you learned to like.
you kissed her brother.
you told her you were different.
so many times.
and she pushed you away.
said you were despicable.
but you persisted.
and she loved you again.
with some exceptions.
but she covered that up.
the one
who screamed at you.
you did this on purpose.
to hurt her.
accused you.
but it wasn't your fault.
i didn't want to hurt you.
i did do this on purpose. but
i only did this to me.
to hurt me.
i guess it wasn't really her fault either.
but she made it into her own fault.
and she left you alone.
to suffer.
by yourself.
alone.
