the hours of us

the hours of us

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the hours of us

in the small thicket

a life's moment happened

stinging thorns

poison ivy thoughts

touched my heart

with irrational response

I bled for days

scratching the itch of time

until clarity

let me forget

you ever happened.

Yes in love we don’t see any imperfections but take away those rose coloured glasses and you see things in a different light. Doesn’t take much but falling out of love and all is revealed. Yes that garden of Eden has some unpleasant surprises in store. So well done J as per your usual.

Some have clarity, some have Claritin, whatever helps the itchy eyes that water for whatever reason. At any rate it sounds like our protagonist needed to get out of the thicket of things and find an open field of flowers to lay in...don't forget the Claritin. A love that makes you feel allergic might be better to avoid. Nicely crafted as always. F.

Memories haunt. Especially of Love's pain, received ...and given.

Those poison ivy thoughts can drive us all to distraction Jacob, but thank the heavens for clarity and her intervention... well, that and antibiotics! 😃
