Fire. Man. Always reminds me of Mark.
We talked 10 years via internet waiting for his kids to grow up
Before we'd tell anybody we were in love.
He died in a fire 11-27-2023
I recently apologized to his wife for posting love letters I'd collected.
She had no idea. But Mark would have said, "Let it go, Glenda."
Poetry is multi talented. Thanks, J. It's an awesome poem.

It is still hard.
Thank you, Eternity.

This reminds me of what happened in the California fires....people watched as their dear friends' houses burn to the ground...the fire even distinguishes our tears...flames have no respect; they have a life of their own and can cause much grief....short and so meaningful in a sad way....Thank you for sharing J.
Warmly, B

Thank you for your kind and comforting words, Betty,

Those disrespectful flames, no wonder the tears have run dry. No more tears left to mourn what has been lost. Tragic and when it is a friend that has suffered, even more so.
I awoke one night to the color of flames coming through my blinds. Going outside I saw my neighbor's house up in flames. This reminded me of that incident. But then it hit me it could be metaphoric as well and those life fires that burn down our homes and threaten our lives drain our inner and outer eyes as our friends watch us go down in flames so to speak. So short but contains so much.
