Lovely Jacob.
For some reason you took me towards Leonard Cohen and “Suzanne”.
But, of course, you didn’t feed me tea and oranges that came all the way from China.
Rivers are impossible to tame unless you're a dam builder and even then the dams sometime collapse and flood. Until the river runs wild again. And then, there the dam builder sits, all broken in the detritus of the waste washed downstream; pummeled by limbs and dislodged bits of hope. Is it better than chasing swirling eddies like our tail in the froth? I really couldn't say. But if the dam breaks, it's best to be as far away from the ensuing flood as possible.

I knew it!! Jacob is a die-hard romantic. and what a great line of poetry, "a reflection bowing to your beauty as you tiptoe across the tamed white caps". Jacob, as I read, I just wanted to dive into that "slowed swell" and meet this woman of beauty who walks across white caps and has enticed your words, as well as your heart it seems.
Have to agrre, wholeheartedly, with Kelly, you are a "different breed of poet". -Curt
You are of a different breed of poet, J. I'm convinced of it. It's underrated how so many of your readers become immersed in the caliber of your writing. I marvel at it, I really do.
There is a beautiful calmness in this piece. The title is excellent and to me is a reflection on what once was. Without doubt there is still much love. The imagery is captivating. Moments well invested.
