Kudos Jacob!!! A Clever & perfect telling of a car owners fears, waiting, waiting on tenterhooks.
...funny, I've always thought it was 'tender hooks', til I googled it now to check spelling :)

tenter or tender, still feels the same nerves...thanks, Dylan,

I rather not wait and opt to go for a walk while the car is being repaired. Keep myself busy and time passes by quicker. I love it when I come back and she’s waiting for me in the car park.

As long as she is still waiting when you get back and hasn't taken off with some OTHER owner.

Actually, when I'm in the customers' lounge, I am struggling through another episode of the Home and Garden Network and dreading what the body shop will do to my bank account.

The magazines are really lame in the auto shop waiting rooms.

Thank you for this, I can relate as I am trying to keep my little 20 year old Scion XA going. I will hold on to your poem in my memory tomorrow as I go into the car shop;)

I only started driving later in life and even now I'm just back at it after a lay off of nearly three years.
Maybe it's me missing out on the freedom of driving in youth, but to me driving is just a means to an end and I always have the back up of Katie giving me a lift. I think I missed the whole naming your car thing, but when I told her that she told me to shush as I'd hurt Emily's feelings... Emily being her car!
We need to drive to feel freedom, but it only adds extra costs to our outgoings which in the end only ties you down.
I'm sure there's a catch 22 analogy in there somewhere, but I'm tired and have to be up early in the morning to wash Emily! 😃

Don't offend Emily, she will break down on purpose.

Seems so many folk name their cars. I actually lost my first car, a green vw beetle. I got extremely drunk, couldn't remember where I'd parked the car and instead of reporting my loss to the local constabulary I chose to buy a battered old white Ford escort:)
Such a silly boy.
Hope you are well Jacob

thanks for the smile, Gee.
Wonder if your car is still where you left it after all these years....I can hear the beetle telling anyone who gets into it that it is waiting for its owner.

this is very sweet poem about car. btw, is that a toyota yaris? Baby Yaris?
my first car, it was my baby, I loved it more than anything else - although, not a good idea to be attached to materialism, but somehow there was some part of me in it. And, unfortunately, the car got totaled in an accident and I miss it a lot.
Thanks jacob for sharing this nice, cute write. I really liked it :)

I don't know how much more you could embrace a car. I guess I shouldn't have been mad at my ex for loving his car more than me and calling it "baby"... I get it. But it's really wonderful that you wrote this so beautifully, I'm sure you call your poems "baby" too, so after writing so well, it should be like that, right?
