even this one can't be used again

even this one can't be used again

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

even this one can't be used again

i am recycling

my life

to mint new poems

but they are stale

and raw

putrid with the stench

of overused metaphor

maybe recycling is a bad idea

since the first life

isn't worth the words

that made it breathe.

Our writing changes as the years go by and i think it is worth going over old ground , for it is that which taught us to think and write in the beginning.
Updating is usually also upgrading.. ( Well hopefully :))

Yes, hopefully. Thank you, Stella.

I can't imagine one of your poems being putrid or stale.

But, I think I understand.

Maybe, they are, simply because we are still here,
which means, at some point, we must have persisted.

That's poetry itself
Is it not?

Nothing wrong with recycling old poems, I do it often. An opportunity to freshen them up a bit, give them a lick and a polish and maybe add a touch of scent. Ready to go again j.

I have heard the the cost to the enviornment is more with recycling than with making a new product and so it seems with my poems. This was quite a creative idea for a poem and I have the feel that it was not made from recycled material.

You are welcome sir Jacob.
I love the smell of overused metaphor in the morning, it smells like poetry. Nicely worded. ~Jim

So Poets need 2 trash cans, one for metallic words, the other for disposable, depreciated contents.
Recycle ♻️ and reuse.
Hehehe

At least Poets are using recycling to help reservation of the literary environment without charging that much for the trade.
It keeps communicating in forms alive and not firms.

I don’t believe the words in your poems are stale and have a stench well maybe when actually writing about a stench anyways i regress.

Life isn’t always grand moments filled with opulent moments. Most lives are filled with mundane trivial moments and those are the ones we shall remember
