The very real real

The very real real

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

The very real real

do you still remember me

when the lights of suggestion

are darkened by unobstructed

truth

could you still love me

when i stand before you

naked and flawed

it is all rhetorical

to think that we deserve

another's attention

in our most ebony moments

so, i must clothe myself

in apology

and wait until you

reach for my shadow.

j,
What a fine thing to be able to turn words into smoke... And the word rhetorical is such a fine anchor form a waiting shadow.

of course, there are many things we can be, but I guess, the best we can do is be the best person we can be when people see us. isn't this the "very real real" when it comes to love or to anything?? even if we live in or hide in shadows, don't we want people to see us a human, as humane??

Beginning to feel like Neo ... living in a world that doesn't seem quite real. We only have those images in our minds of what was and what now is and neither speak the truth. We can wait for that hand to reach out or we can reach and hope that hand touches ours.

Well done j. quite liked this.

“Do Not Live to Satisfy the Expectations of Others”

I saw this scribbled across the side of a bus while sitting in traffic this morning. I’m going to commit it to memory. Great piece but its left me a tad sad.

Many doubts here about being accepted flaws and all. A concern which is not uncommon. Do other people see us as we see ourselves? Probably not. We can be our own worse enemy at times, over critical about ourselves. True friends will love you warts and all. We are all imperfect. Imperfections can be quite attractive.

this one is complex, many layers, much depth. here we are describing a very complicated dynamic - the desire to be seen along with the doubt that it will be received. and it's a doubt that's well-founded. i have been in situations where i hesitated talking about my most ebony moments, believing quite strongly that they will no understand. there's been other times i did try to talk about it - only to be shot down.
i think i will keep my clothes on, so to speak, here on out because a soulful person is hard to find.

This sounds like a question for a long dark night of the soul, when sleep evades
We do think we deserve anothers attention, but how much thought do we put into being attentive to them?
I even clothe myself apologetically if I catch sight of me! 😃
