Skirmish

Skirmish

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Skirmish

a passive-aggressive enemy

spreads across the lines

a body's territory

obliges unwillingly

fights across boundaries

a heart refuses to surrender

denies

the enemy retreats

life goes on

its soldiers in recovery

Multi meanings here j. I pondered on health, illness and exhaustion. It can creep up on us without warning and catch us unawares. And when it does, we have to accept that we need to slow down and recover while the enemy invaders retreat. Reminds me of a poem I wrote many moons ago called Space Invaders. An army of cancer cells spreading wide and a fierce battle ensuing. A super metaphor you have here.

I really appreciate your kind review, Chris,
j.
Kind of like reading an inner struggle with something inside not settling right.
This is intriguing, really enjoyed this one Jacob.

Erin,
I have had a Passive aggressive lover, narcissistic, too. I'd rather fight of a rattlesnake with a flip flop... she was a beauty, though, and sometimes I even miss her...

Well Jacob, you've only gone snd confuserated me again. But at least this time I'm only in two minds instead of the usual seventeen.
First one could be a war, but Di soldiers ever recover?
Which leads me to guesstimate that this may indeed be a personal health battle, where no matter how alert and ready we are, we can be outflanked without notice as they may just attack on all fronts.
I really like the ease with which your words can have more than just one meaning and are layered in a way that makes for constant re-reads, while I nod and shake my head like someone having an inner argument on its meaning, who happens to look like he is watching a game of tennis snd checking out no bird is gonna crap on his head!
Now I bet that's the first time anyone has reviewed you like that today!

Yes, with birds crapping on a head...ha ha.
thanks for your two minds, Lorry

THIS could be of battle with weapons and more.. or, could be the weapons that age and health generally attacks what is never waiting for sickness, but knows it might come. Everything is tried to help, assist, control; the body tries to fight back.. hope and patience doing its finest, fighting with all its might. What was attacked in time survives, continues, heart, soul and spirit scarred yet somehow intact to fight another day if and when essential. Words to consider, words to remember.
