Eviction

Eviction

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Eviction

gusts of orange

an enemy leaving charred wood

January brick chimneys standing alone

home was where the heart resided

but now it simply

beats with black

residue

and the discourteous mover

the unwanted guest

clears the house

of feeling.

"...chimneys standing alone."
California's broken heart ... a tragic, beautiful write, Jacob.

I don't think one ever clears away the essence of people or places the residue always remains. Well said my friend.

Thank you, Mary,

I don't know that the essence of the occupier ever really leaves the house you know.
It always takes a little while when i move into another property before i feel the previous person has flown or left whichever it may be no matter how much the clean the surfaces that feeling lingers.
