A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

punch line

bow-tie demeanor

rigid collar

voice in strict regiment

and then

laughter

like that of a jester

the miracle

of turning gravity

to levity

when unwrapping

the gift

of humor.

it loosens the top button

of uneasiness

with a few flamboyant words

and then the soldiers

fall out.

The joker, the comedian. Your poem reminds me of Dave Allen, an Irish comedian, who would deliver his humour from a chair, always suited and booted often with a cigarette and a glass of whisky as company. His delivery was impeccable. The timing perfect. Could turn a serious subject into hilarity with ease. You nailed him for me in this poem j. Humour is such a gift. Love this piece.
