Parents with Orphaned HeartsA Poem by jacob erin-cilbertoParents with Orphaned Hearts the borders cringe shrink in confidence the bombs boomerang a flutist plays by the skeletal remains of a school where once innocent children strove at recess smoke lines the creases of hearts a people's world in bits and pieces both sides then both sides now both sides a destructive taste the drinks on the house but not even a charred wood table to set them on Peace is a place mat under a cup of coffee that has pieces of flesh as sugar substitute and the cream curdles with each explosion where are those children now? and why cannot both sides build a new table at which to congregate, negotiate sublimate an accord. erin-cilberto 1/7/25 © 2025 jacob erin-cilbertoReviews
