Parents with Orphaned Hearts

Parents with Orphaned Hearts

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Parents with Orphaned Hearts

the borders cringe

shrink in confidence

the bombs boomerang

a flutist plays by

the skeletal remains of a school

where once innocent children

strove at recess

smoke lines the creases

of hearts

a people's world

in bits and pieces

both sides then

both sides now

both sides a destructive

taste

the drinks on the house

but not even a charred wood

table to set them on

Peace is a place mat

under a cup of coffee

that has pieces of flesh

as sugar substitute

and the cream curdles

with each explosion

where are those children now?

and why cannot both sides

build a new table

at which to congregate, negotiate

sublimate

an accord.

He who shouteth the loudest doesn't always get to be president, I mean .... doesn't always get heard over the genocide of the innocents.
As Stephen Fry once said to rapturous applause "War... s**t it!"
Not his most eloquent, but we got the message.
With those borders ever shrinking, until we are all just one world nation, what differences will we try next, after racial and religious intolerance?
It may just be the next reality show in the making... last despot standing! I'm sure the ratings would be through the roof, before plummeting due to no audience member being left alive!

Yes, last despot standing...
They are sitting on their souls right now.
Thanks, Lorry,.. read more
Children always pay the price of their father's follies. Sad situation on both siddes and all the wars raging at the moment.

Good one j.

I think both sides would rather have no table and someone to blame it on (Rally the forces, you know) ~Jim

War is always the fault of someone else...but it takes two to tango.
