A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Occupant

remnants of you
still reside in me
the rent belligerent
in cost
the heart deep inside
wrapped in grief
huddling in blankets of
remembrance

shivering
unable to afford
even one tear.

Sadness is so palpable in this remembrance poem; I feel a pale lamentation in the poet's reality ordination.
I hope I can wish

thank you, Freds,

a sadness expressed exquisitely. there is much grief in these lines yet the writing is so poetic. this work stands as a testament for the medium, that we can take hurt and weave it into something else.
"the heart, it's a fucked up device." that's a saying from my friend. he is not famous, nor a poet. but he's right. we dont have te power to choose who lives inside it.

Like an arrow through the heart, you never miss! I hope you have a wonderful holiday season, J!

Thank you, Kelly....same to you!
You always carry a part of someone that meant the most even after their departure. Its a weight that no amount of experience can carry, I feel you in this one. One tear and everything can fall apart especially if we are trying so desperately to hold ourself together. I like this poem

I think as we get older, we "still am" much more often.

and most of the time I feel like a plagiarist because I rarely know where it all comes from.

Another great metaphor painted with a dark hue that gives it character and a sense of familiarity. Haunting and all too real. Masterful Jacob
