prim and proper, are tears allowed, even in the brim?? Often, prim and proper is just plain old heartlessness. And to those heartless, proper people I have a middle finger and a big FU.... ooops, did I just write that out loud??!!! Okay, shaking off my bad manners, but what gentleman allows a tip of the hat to acknowledge pain? Has our society de-evolved to the point where we ignore human suffering?? A rhetorical question since it seems people are seeing Israeli genocidal atrocities against the Palestinian people with a "tip of the hat".
Probably should have left my comment there at the middle finger, Jacob. But your poems invoke feelings and a need to review them.

Seems empathy is a forgotten word, CYNICISM and general clannish behaviour is the 'thing of the day'. So very sad. Times they are a'changing. Makes me wonder what good the collaboration did?! What fine words from the Master

Maybe? Perhaps? Mayhaps? Depends on how a person needs this or that! Thank you, my friend.
Hiding our personal struggles and weakness perhaps due to societal pressure. Tipping the cap and being outwardly polite and composed perhaps being a male who should remain strong and the world doesn’t allow him to even display the pain inside him. But no matter how much we hide the emotions, it bcomes apparent, the burden just lurks beneath the surface… so beautifully expressed dear @Jacob

Wow, what a kind and thoughtful review.
Thank you, Aarti,

I find it interesting that we think that keeping our feelings under our hat works. In my case its just a slow form of dying. Always excellent work my friend.
Tears threaten to spill over, but we hide our feelings because we are afraid to show them, afraid to be human, afraid to be open and honest, afraid to show our true self! So, we pretend all is well, and we wear a mask to cover the truth! How sad! We should never be afraid to show our true feelings, to show our vulnerability, to cry! Tears heal! Thank you for sharing this very thought provoking poem, succinct, but a gem, dear J...
Not being able to feel hidden pain is painful in every culture.
"It is a joy to be hidden and a disaster not to be found."
even if it's hidden, pain still matters.
