Selective Hearing

Selective Hearing

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Selective Hearing

I heard of your "Old Days"!
braggadocios or factadocios
Read some of your poetry, too

A.I.? or the real I?
I see words, I sense feelings
miles away from each page

you talk of the way it was
while I live the way it is
and remember the real.

I used A.I. for this review
that's just real honest
and I "am" old.

The mind sees and hears what it wants to.
Beauty they say is in the eyes of the beholder.
As sure as day; all humans have wants and needs, but they are never the same.
So it’s okay to do you, while I do me.
Don’t despise my quirks,
I would respect yours,
Don’t consider your quirks superior,
Mine aren’t inferior
In the final analysis we all breathe in oxygen and breath out carbon dioxide
We all have the right to be true to ourselves.

Simple but profound!
Keep writing Jacob!

what was that you said? could you speak up. i expect that a.i. will create as many problems as it solves but in the name of money will do well nevertheless. maybe it will be able to turn up hearing aids for us. we used to blame it on the rain, soon we'll be blaming it on a.i.

for writing teachers, A.I. is a nightmare.
Thanks for your thoughts, Pete,

AI can’t replace human emotion. There is no place for it in literature at all. It kills creativity stone dead. The very thought of if it sends shivers up and down my spine. A thought provoking write j.

I cringe most times I hear of the "old days" or "back when I ...", as it invariably harkens back to less inclusive times. Anyhow, very good write. ~Jim

Cloned this and that living have been spreading across the planet for years. Like it or not, letters are only language if tainted or perfected by Man. However, some bright sparks thought it was fine to start wars a while ago, starve humans in rain soiled ripped tents, blow up humanity and its home.. and other remove the voice. Voice with things to speak, to sing, to call, to teach and love by. Lose the voice = lose arias, lessons - how to pray to your gods - utter prayers over our dead. A.I is a killer, its global warming gone mad. Sorry, dear sir, spent two hours watching a televised lecture given at a university, learned more there than some would learn their next steps in the future. Using a created language with a palette of colour to paint out natural talent. Guess I have a quirk or too, Sarah!

dear Erin... Robots seem real and actually do what they are told. We have freedom of Choice... until the Robots take over... under Cover... silently, Pat

Very relevant writing especially at this time. Long time ago before the time of calculators mental math was our second nature. It changed a lot now a days. Later on literature will definitely affected by AI. Your challenges will be more as a teacher that is for sure

First off, "factadocios"! How I wish that I had coined that one. Hats-off. Bravo!

Next, I love that you reminded us of what the "A" means. Give me the real. It's not the first time to pass on what's being served up. No thank you. And the way things look, it's likely not the last.
I enjoyed this very much.

Sadly, yes, people use selective hearing all the time, as does my husband, to my annoyance. People only see what they choose to see, that is true also. The old days were when we learned the most about life, people, work, etc. The world back then was very different to the world we live in today with such advanced technology, where once, there was no technology. Yes, we are old, but in fairness to us, we have moved with the times and we are not bad at all with technology. AI will never replace a human being in any way. He is limited to what he is programmed to be, to do, etc. Without programming, he can do nothing! A very profound, though provoking and yet, insightful write from your poetic pen, dear J... Thank you for sharing, dear friend...
