earning respect is the highest aspiration in us. and your description of the feeling of being seen is spot on. and the line: 'a poemful version of me' is amazing. we write when we are inspired and living in the moment. being that poemful person is an exhilirating feeling, and you captured that too. good stuff.
So I should throw out that old bottle of wine? I think not. Some things grow better with age. Some things turn into vinegar. But even vinegar when combined with oil makes a salad dressing. Happy vinegrette day, Jacob, you old bottle of fine wine.
Hi Jacob, this reminds me of the many mask we wear in order to get through life's journey while trying to conceal the real identity of the one who wears it. Great read!
This runs like a self critique, beginning with perhaps what others think of us and ends with our only truth, that we can only be the person we are, and you Sir are a poet from the soles of your feet to the soul of who you are.
This poem packs a punch j, it reads to me about superficial rather than genuine. A pretence that something is better than it really is. Putting on an act or show.

I see this as a person who underestimates themselves and the impact they have. Do they struggle with their worth and are they now seeing themselves in a positive light, I ask myself.
