Tic-Toc

Tic-Toc

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Tic-Toc

in the purview

of time's gluttony

we are all clocks

running amok

the hands toiling

in turbulent renaissance

flames of structure amiss

we spend minutes to hours

to years

out of sync

with who we are

and then when the last second

tolls

we find the world

to be the absolute perfect

timepiece

no matter what zone

we are in

the ticking sounding

like an old favorite song.

Strange how when we were young time seemed endless, but with the passing years it now seems to gallop on with the speed of a very fine race horse. Time was created for control like starting work at such a time and ending work at such a time, I guess it was a necessary invention. Sadly, some allow it to control their whole lives. Time is so precious, before we know it our time has run out and that is brought home to me more and more with the number of friends who have crossed over to Spirit this past year, J. We are in the departure Lounge awaiting our flight back home! That is all the more reason to make each and every moment count, to live in the present and enjoy it as much as we can. A superbly penned poem, dear J. Both insightful and thought provoking. I enjoyed reading so much and I must tell you that my silly poem doesn't hold candlelight to this little gem! Thank you for sharing, dear J...

Most welcome always, dear J...
Can’t remember looking at the clock much in younger years or even questioning time. It’s not until we get older we start to reflect on it, when we know the egg timer is running out. I just want that egg timer to go in slow motion. I still have much to do and time gets more and more precious with each day. That’s where you took me with this write. I never wear a watch these days, gave that up when I retired from work. Live in the moment should be a mantra for us all j. Happy Thanksgiving.

Scientists are finding that time is now not only cyclical but the time from Trump to the emergence of intelligent life is also, hopefully shorter that hitherto imagined.

Well thank the beard guy who lives in the clouds this isn't about that tictoc, because I literally thought you were going to sat literally eighteen times and make me pray for a thrombosis!
It is amazing how we let time control us. I have just recently stopped wearing my watch due to me feeling my wrist is getting strangled by it, yet the proof the tics are controlling us is I still look at my now naked wrist about thirty times a day and get annoyed that I chose not to put it there, every time I look and see its not there!
I do have a funny feeling though that my last words will be "No, I haven't finished that..."
I only hope its not a poem I didn't finish...or a cheesecake!

Most interesting piece Jacob. Thinking about it all the world is a clock sediment laid down tree rings, and even humans says they age show the passage of time.

ah, that ever precious dimension. slaves we are to it as we search for more. after the ball finally drops on new year's eve, all we're left with is a hangover the next day. probably another reason why the world went digital - no pendulum, no movement, no sound. thought-provoking j.

i live with chronophobia, or the fear of time. the very idea that we all half a timer, a clock inside of us that will chime when it reaches our end point, is absolutely terrifying. this poem gives the internal of of that clock. I can feel it, swinging slowly. slowly. -mabel
