a punctuated note

a punctuated note

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

a punctuated note

the sax was off key

your blues were my blues

your life, my life

music, that semi-colon

connecting our thoughts

as love became

a complex sentence

we were trying to finish.

love is always messy, complex, with everything going in many directions at the same time. Love is like improvisational jazz and you have to really listen to get the complex movements of the notes and themes. I liked the idea of a semi-colon connecting thoughts, yes, exactly!! Even with all this "off key-ness" would we have it any other way?? It's where the fun is, the joy and the madness. And hopefully, when the notes do finally mesh, you and the one you love are even closer together.

When two are in tune anything is possible and how beautiful the dance but when one's string breaks love becomes an orchestrated mess too complex to untangle which leaves no other choice but for one to cut ties and the song is over.

reminds me of "the song is over" on the Who's next album...
you are quite insightful with you.. read more
Oh, but love should never be finished. It just morphs from a phrase into a sentence and then into an entire paragraph! I liked this one a lot. Lydi**

Be nice if it would.

your blues were my blues
your life my life

Such lovely words of love, with music running through it. The intentions were all good, even if it turned complex. Touching little write j.
