Running Wild

Running Wild

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Running Wild

the big cat
is in a heap
asleep
in a jungle of thought
the King's mane
is slick gold
his eyes roar
his pride
extends to territories
only imagined
as he sleeps
with his crown
just a few paws
away

the prodigal lion
asleep
in a heap
of pride

with no other lions
anywhere to be found

his Disney world created
after he mated
elated
with himself

his eyes roar
he wants for
more and more and more.

The last three lines speak to me of greed. There is certain waring dictator who has sights on expanding his empire considerably. He had to be stopped. The situation is becoming increasingly dangerous. He, I see as King of the Jungle and he has plenty of nasty support. More than one possibility here j. WW3 I hope not. There is much talk in tv today.

Increasingly. Thank you, Chris...and I am hoping what you are...

I know who the "King" is, dear J... As he sleeps he is counting the territories that he and his cohorts will conquer. This greedy king will stop at nothing, his greed demands more and more and more. His alliances are suspect to say the least. Doom is tangible in the air, even all the way over here and everybody is wondering what next. Can't be a step ahead of the king, alas. So we continue to ponder what our fate will be... WONDERFUL poem, dear J... Love the comparison of T. with The King of The Jungle though sadly, he is not worthy! Enjoyed reading this well crafted poem, and thank you for sharing it, dear J... Lovely work!

Most welcome always, J...
I have been watching a gold and white cat I called Mango outside my home, and I can easily see this being "Mango's Theme". I like it. ~Jim

when we sleep, we allow our desires to run wild. in dreams we can pursue and become anything. when we wake up to a dirty reality, all our hopes begin to fade. except, we are desiring machines and we cannot help to want more and more and more. like the king of the jungle, we have everything yet still unsatisfied lost in a jungle of thoughts. brilliant.

and in his desire to want more and more, there are a host of lions determined to dethrone him, working for the opening to chase him and his entire rule out of the kingdom. it is sometimes in seemingly strength, weaknesses are seen and acted on.

Thank you for your words, redzone...

I found this quite witty. I am a Leo and of course there is my name and so I highly relate with lions.

It's a Jungle out there... too many wild chances as He Roars...
we need to begin with law and order at the Border. Amen... Pat
