Eyes

Eyes

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Eyes

i see pretty things

in an ugly way

beautiful people

as different skinned

my woman sleeps in a

different city

my friends keep their distance

to save their hearts

from plummeting

off a cliff of trust

beautiful people

with birthmarks

blemishes of difference

i call her in the middle of the night

no answer

she is out with another

who sees pretty things

in a pretty way.

This felt sad and yet in your words I felt acceptance too. Friends don't turn up and those we love, find another. "Differences" is the excuse offered for desertion. There's got to be another route to contentment and peace. You nailed the betrayals so beautifully here.

Thank you for your kind review, AYVID,

Don't know if this is a confession or a moral tale. The rival may have had a more positive attitude. On the other hand, he may just have had better BS.

they say it all don't they, eyes that is .. and besides them, the mouth & its contents become redundant .. but for what its worth, I believe I see things similarly .. it's sometimes but not always, safer that way, isn't it Neville

When the purpose of anything is not understood, abuse will happen.
What ever is not celebrated exits your life.
How you see determines the value you place on anything or anyone.

This is powerful Erin.
I quite enjoyed it

You’re welcome Jacob
there is nothing like coming home to find the woman you love, is in love with another.... in your case a no answered phone call in the middle of the night, in my case a vacant house and then a morning meeting. I guess you could say it "was pretty". but the birthmarks and blemishes left a scarred heart. your poem also reminds me of how when we are so different in views, ideas of life, distance, etc, it often leads to "out with another/who sees pretty things/ in a pretty way."

dear Jacob... Eyes encompass a large Oasis of Dreams... leaving a Riddle to be solved... when a Caravan of Hungarian Gypsies begin to dance with golden Rings on their toes. Wishing you pleasant moments of romantic adventure. softly, Pat

Thought provoking writing with footage to day-to-day relationships in this materialistic world especially love is defined by chat GPT and artificial intelligence not by Shakespeare classics. Probability statistics gives augmentation to head way fast with new relations. Allured or voluntarily does not matter world has changed a lot.

Contrast in perspective is precautionary and prevalent. The Great divide is widening. People are acting stranger by the day.
All known laws and norms are thrown away by Tyrants and Satanyaho's.
Love is becoming a battle ground too.
Long live Poet Jacob.

You are welcome sir Jacob.
this cuts deep. captures the feeling of being lonely and powerless. i have no one and i have no way of making friends. this dilema that effects so many of us today is the sad reality and the failiure of the world. how did we let things come to this?
