Baby Grand

Baby Grand

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Baby Grand

the ivories

paint tunes

of black and white madness

keys carve sadness

as loons dive under

in ponds of illusion

sheet music

smooth

like those ponds at sunset

deceiving the composer

Who can't read sheet music

and just plays by deaf ear

crazy fingers play slant rhyme

and mournful blues

feel right at home

swimming to the bottom

of life

where the song ends.

Yeah good write
Jacob,
Love the metaphor! I've always enjoyed how all the arts seem to be related no matter the medium. The problem is, all my favorites are full of thorns and tend to leave me bleeding. In this poem alone is piano, painting, sculpture, and song... A fine poem, sir.!

The title of your finely inked poem drew me in to read it, dear J... Your little poetic gem brought back childhood memories of a friend of mine and when I visited her home, I always wanted to go to the sitting room where their Baby Grand stood proudly with its back to the wall. Neither her Mam or Dad ever complained about the racket we made trying to play the piano! Laughing! Just a memory from very long ago revived by your sublime inking, dear J... Great write which I love. Thank you for sharing and for the little trip down Memory Lane, dear friend...

Sadly, no dear J...
Most welcome always, dear friend...
dearest Jacob... a Baby Grand at conception ... will be the
Inspiration of Eternity... as leaves of golden harps will become
the Rhapsody of Peace and Goodwill toward Men... as we prepare a Cornucopia of understanding that will Heal a World of Wisdom lost... and to be found among the Riches that become the Savior of Humanity. tenderly, Pat
