Start building the boat

Start building the boat

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Start building the boat

splitting hairs

on rails of disbelief

love sits atop

an unmade pedestal

waiting to forego

the ugly

the truant

the bestial

saints with shattered halos

dancing doomsday dichotomies

because they can no longer fly

amongst a sky

of vicarious hate

splitting, sitting

at the right hand of

a displeased God

who ponders reasons

to exonerate the empty souls

from existence

and start over

from scratch.

oh yes, the pedestal that has to be made and not just chanced upon. Remember how angels get their wings (good old Jimmy Stewart and that) the reverse is here - imperfect angels with wings presumably snapped off. And of course to start over we start with scratchin' our noggins coz nuthin's up to scratch.

Imperfect angels get wings....and we hear sonic booms instead of bells...

Jacob this is wonderful, I really like the line "saints with shattered halos, dancing doomsday dichotomies", it just flows great.
