Is poetry a fading art? A friend once said to me don't even think of writing a book of poetry, it will never sell on Amazon.... maybe she is right...will death bring the same? if you are dead, do you care what people think of your work??? Unless you are very well known....nice thought J.
Warmly, B
I am sure your book is selling, Betty....it should be.

Writers Market could tell you. I don't know if that is sold in hard copy anymore but that is what I used to use for poetry....they did one called Poets Market...told me the best places to submit my work. And I think they have or had a volume for stories as well.
Good morning.
Perhaps fame after death is the way to go, look at how it destroys so many caught in the public eye.
A friend of mine wants to put together a wee book of the poems I have penned on season's and life. Me being me thinks they are not worth the ink and paper needed.
You will always be heard Jacob, heard and appreciated.
Hope you are keeping well.

Is it only poets who read poetry? It's a lost art and the practioners considered addle-pated and rather strange, or are we the lucky ones who understand the joys of producing something that strikes a chord in someone' soul, if only once.
What got me into this was one single line ... "I must go down to the seas again ...|
Do we take criticism lying doen or do we turn the table on our critics? ... asking for a friend.

I have no qualms about most of my work being hidden from the public eye, but it makes me wonder... Is death really the only way to reach full fruition of practice?
Am I only going to know being known, after my last breath?
Deathbeds and social recognition.
Seem to go together like PB&J...

It really seems that way, doesn't it?

A poignant write. So sad when nobody listens to what a poet has to say. Emily kept her poetry under lock and key, but it was heard and appreciated after it became available and she had crossed over to Spirit. Everybody loves to read your amazing poetic gems, dear J... No fear of your poetry not being listened to or not heard. Lovely work! Thank you for sharing, dear friend...
I know the feeling well Jacob, despite feeling I am more of a silent extra in a silent movie with subtitles in a language no one speaks.
Sometimes I wonder who keeps tying me to the train tracks, but knowing by the state of the service I'll be safe a while, at least until the next episode! 😃

Subtitles for the silent dialogue of the extra.

I think it is atrocious that it is only after she was gone, did her "secret verse" become heard. It would have been so wonderful to have conversed with her, exchanged poems, and seen more fully the world as she saw it. Even though we can do this by reading her now open poetry, I would have been happy to sit outside her door and have a conversation.
Jacob, your poetry speaks loudly, gently and I hear it. And I do not have to wait until you have gone to have this conversation!! That is the thrill I am happy to be part of.

"I'll Tell You How the Sun Rose' was the first poem I can remember reading from Dickinson. What caught my attention was the skilled rhythm and the 'shine' of her 'understanding' like seeing the back of a baldheaded man. You never notice anything but his head; her method was her sedative just as much as her words. Dickinson, Plath, and Whitman are the only souls I will visit in the afterlife. And you too dear brother. dana
