A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Ad Block

sifting through the spam

of my life

and deleting memories

that clog my in-box of clarity

what my years have made me into

how the emails like friends

have gathered in support

less the trashy ads

showing me how I could be different

think differently

look differently

love differently

protect myself from the viruses

that surround my heart

try to penetrate it

While these ads themselves

are meant to spam me into

heartbreak and ruination

of the me I could have been

sifting through the spam

I am

and was

and is

what I am

as I click on

what will be the rest of my life

if the screen will show it to me.

Extraordinary use of metaphor in this mind blowing poem, dear J... Reading your superbly penned poem, is like watching the monitor of my pc. I love the comparison between what we see on our screen and our lives, the ad's, the virus', the spam! Absolutely amazing! Strong visual detail. The poem to me is a very powerfully inked one and I like it very much! Sublime write, dear J... Thank you for sharing...
