Clarity

Clarity

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Clarity

Oedipus in his lonely state of mind

dreamed of being back in his mother's womb

safe, coddled

away from his crooked fate

still with his fetus eyes

gawking at internal futures

unbecoming what he was bound to be

filled with wisdom

blind

but

Free.

Wow! Out of the womb of Greek mythology is birthed new meaning, Old history of a story used in a new refressing way. I love "filled with wisdom blind but free" not only refering to his putting out his eyes upon discovery of what he had done but freedom from the womb of his mother. Deep very deep if one ponders it. Another gem Jacob

Ugh, that last part "blind but free" was powerful to me. We always try to predict a future, but perhaps the freedom comes in not knowing. For Oedipus that was the truth, what and awful future to predict. I loved this. It helps that I have a special place in my heart for Greek Tragedies.

'Stop the world I want to get off.' Perhaps that is the only way to clarity.

Thank you, Beccy,

Too often I yearn for the blind, unattached safety of something like the womb (someplace where ads for the local Senate candidates aren't playing). ~Jim

That would be worth it to get back in the womb just to avoid the campaign season of hateful ads.
